Good Morning Everyone! How was everyone's weekend? These past 3 Sunday's, I have started to give my husband the challenge of dressing me in what he likes and would call fashion then we take a photo. Sometimes I LOVE what he picks and goes through my closet and picks out things I forgot I had but sometimes I cringe but luckily for the one I cringed the zipper broke! The zipper breaking allowed me to wear the Zara jumpsuit I bought for date night on Friday, I love it but suede in 90 degrees is just not ok, I was dying!

On a side note... I am slowly starting to move away from this blog and starting another one (it will hopefully be ready by Thanksgiving) and also I have been collaborating with another couple bloggers and we have started a new fashion blog called loveandnothin. I will continue posting on concreterunwayla for as long as I can, it was my first and it is my baby, I just cannot abandon her that easily.

Good Morning, how was everyone's Labor Day? My husband and I went out to Manhattan Beach and rode our bikes up and down the coast, one of my favorite pass time activities. Believe it or not, I let my husband dress me up this morning to see what he would put together and though it was out of my comfort zone, I liked what he put together. What do you guys think? Did he do good?

Summer vacation is officially over and I am sitting behind my work desk staring at piles and piles of paperwork. Students are screaming and teachers look well rested for now, let's see how long that will last. Well, this past weekend my friend took me to a Taco Bar where they hand you popsicles to put in your beer, sounds strange but it's pretty good. As we waited for our turn, we took this photo of me under this sign, hence the peace sign. Am I pulling it off? I had just gotten back from Cuba and while my husband was at work I thought a nice catch up with the girls would be fun, and it was! We started an instagram together that you guys should check out, it's called loveandnothin, pretty similar to my instagram but it's three girls with three different styles. Just a little fun side project!

My Honeymoon in CUBA

Hola Amigos! Well I just got back from my honeymoon in Cuba and it was out of this world! I don't even know where to begin! Let's start with our flight, it was tricky since there aren't any real direct flights to Cuba from Los Angeles so a layover in Mexico City was our only hope and it was crazy (plus that's where we got our visa's from).

Our first day there was an adjustment with so much air pollution everywhere and it just stuck in the air because of the humidity, it was intense! Anyway! That weekend across the Malecon (along the beach) there was the carnaval that is supposed to be a much smaller version of the one in Brazil. The owner of our AirBnB said be careful because a lot of people drink on the streets and start fights but there was nothing but dancing, drinking, and laughter all around us.

On our second day we went to the beach and wow was it gorgeous! The water was perfect and the sand was so soft it felt like cotton. I want to go back just to lay out with a Cerveza.
Below I have more photos from our trip! I won't give you the day by day of our trip but here are some photos that either I took or my husband. We couldn't stop putting our cameras down! However, it is a huge attention grabber and locals come up to you asking where you are from and then for some money. You would think his sleeves would intimidate people but no, people wouldn't stop talking to us and assuming we were rich. The more tattoos you have the richer you are in Cuba, very interesting. They also thought he was superman, that was hilarious!
cuban cigars
Two elder women smoking their cigars in front of their house.

Havana, Cuba
Classic Cars all around town but the engines are apparently Hyundai. However, the bookstores have books on how to fix old American engines so there are a few with the original engine.

La Habana Taxi
That's me in the back of a taxi cab!

Havana Cuba Barrio
An old couple in the Barrio.

cuban trumpet
We were walking down the Malecon when we saw this man playing his trumpet out to the sea. The two songs we heard the most were Guantanamera and the Girl from Impanima.

Havana Streets
A car classic car driving down the street.

Ernest Hemingway Cuba
Hemingway's reading room. His house was so gorgeous, I would love to live in his house.

Havana's Classic American Cars
Another Classic Car.

This was an eery communist bar that was run by the government. The officials stood outside in their uniforms, there was a man on the phone in the corner the entire night, and the music was lowered (almost turned off) when the phone rang. Such an interesting experience.

Wooden Doors of Cuba
Old Habana, after we bought some paintings and decided to stroll around town. Hovig snapped this photo of me by the door I was in love with. You can see through the keyhole! They had a beautiful garden.

Convertible happiness
In the convertible leaving Che Guevara 's house.

old habana and cristo
This was our ride for 10 minutes. I loved it! I feel like we are newlyweds taking a photo in our first car.

Dogs of Cuba
And this photo! Their dogs have photo id's with their information just like our driver license or any I.D.  I have to make one for my dog, I just have too.

Well, this was just a glimpse into my honeymoon and into the country that was once and possibly still is the forbidden fruit for many Americans. Would we go back? Yes! Would I stay in Havana the entire time? No. Next time I would love to go and drive down the coast with a group of friends and explore Trinidad, Vinales, Varadero, and many many more. Everything there was great. The food was amazing, the drinks were tasty and cheap, the people were sweet, and the music was lively and it just got you moving. Such a great place to visit and an experience on it's own!

Bathing Suit: ASOS | Jewelry: Rocksbox | Clutch: Old

Good Morning Friends! A few weeks ago, ROCKSBOX asked me to be a sponsor for 3 months and I was so excited! I get to wear all this fun jewelry and look fabulous? Why would I say no???? I headed over to the website, picked out a few of my favorite pieces and added them to my wishlist, a stylist on their head picks out on piece and makes a set with other stuff that I might like. It's like lending jewelry that you need to return, how awesome is that! How many times do we spend crazy amount on jewelry then wear it once or twice then toss it and purchase a new one? With ROCKSBOX you pay only 19 bucks a month and get all this great stuff! Wear it, then you can buy what you like or send it all back for a new set! How perfect! If you would like to try it then go to the website and put in the code amberisrealxoxo for a one month free trial. Let me know how it goes!!!

In the meantime, I will lay out by the pool and catch up on where to go on my honeymoon! That bathing suit is from ASOS and I love it! A bit sexy but it is my honeymoon. Also, while I am on my trip, I will be starting a new instagram and blog called Culturashion, it's where culture is the inspiration for fashion. I will be taking photos and journaling the fashion and culture of different ethnicities and cultures. Stay Tuned!!!

Fashion and Culture

Does culture influence fashion or does fashion influence culture? Have you ever noticed that when you go to certain areas of any city or town, you see how the style changes and the culture of the town. If one were to go to a big city, culture is a little lost and fashion is a big influence where as in a smaller town, fashion is not as important as culture itself. This weekend when I was in West Hollywood, I noticed that the style was a lot different than the city I live in, which is in Los Angeles but a smaller suburb called Sherman Oaks. In West Hollywood everyone and everything was so colorful and bright, it just made me want to dress in the most trendy outfit there is. However, while I was in Sherman Oaks, I was in a Cuban mood and I threw on this outfit. I felt as though in different areas one beats the other, and yes in Sherman Oaks fashion beats culture, but what about in other cities or counties where fashion doesn't play a big role?

Good Morning! I want to apologize for not blogging as much as I had promised a few weeks back but so much has been happening that I've put blogging on the side. I finally decided to hand my iPhone to my husband and asked him to take photos (my real camera is sitting in the closet collecting dust), I can't just stop blogging. This outfit was my Sunday errand running ones and I grabbed one of my favorite clutches that I made, and headed out the door. From the outside this bicycle clutch looks well put together but inside is a mess, oops.
